How do I find out what is going on?
- Sign up for our email list and read the emails when they come
- Listen to/Read school announcements
- Find a seasoned theatre kid/family/booster and ask
- Website – especially check the Boosters and Company pages
- Facebook (for publicity only – NOT used for schedules, announcements , etc.)
- Attend Boosters meetings
Auditions: Auditions are announced at school. We may send audition info via email, but your kids will hear about it at school. If they didn’t hear – tell them to go see Dede!!
Rehearsals: Information about rehearsals comes to your student from Dede. We do not typically send rehearsal information via email or post on line. Ask your student for the rehearsal schedule. Tip: The rehearsals can go quite late. Dede expects students to be there until the rehearsal is done, so there can be some pretty late nights for pick up during the school week.
Time Commitment: It is significant, and for many kids, theatre is a year round activity. However, lots of kids do other things (sports, work, other clubs) along with Theatre. And kids do bring their homework to rehearsals. The theatre crowd is very supportive of each other and finding a study buddy is easy. But, keeping up with school work can be a challenge, especially during Festival, so remind your child to plan accordingly.
Social stuff: There are a few planned Theatre parties for the cast & crew (see above). However, do not be surprised if you student asks to go to Denny’s (its very popular with the Theatre crowd) or a cast members house following a show. This can mean a late night for parents, or finding an upper classman who lives near you and has a car…..
Other Opportunities to be involved: Dede is always looking for students to help with the elementary and middle school productions. Students should connect with Dede if interested.
Shows & Tickets: Shows are presented in the FHS Theatre. Tickets are sold at the door, and seating is not reserved. Tickets are typically $5/7, $6/8 for Musicals.
